Freshman first baseman Antonio Dominguez (Rock Island, Ill./United Township) broke a scoreless tie with a two-run single in the sixth inning, and the Carl Sandburg College baseball team held on to defeat Morris (N.J.) 2-1 on Tuesday as the Chargers continued their Spring Break trip.

Key Moments
- After Tyler Womack (Moline, Ill./Moline) reached on an error to open the bottom of the sixth and moved to third on a double from Cacey O’Brien (Moline, Ill./Moline), Dominguez knocked them in with a single to center for the game’s first runs.
- Morris scored once in the seventh before Jack Gray (Burlington, Iowa/Notre Dame) wriggled out of a bases-loaded jam with a strikeout to close out the victory for the Chargers (4-3), who improved to 3-2 on their trip to the coast.
Sandburg Star of the Game
Freshman Bryce Meyer (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) was dominant in his first start as a Charger, throwing five shutout innings. The lefty allowed three hits, a walk and struck out eight. Meyer retired 13 of the final 15 batters he faced before turning things over to Gray, who tossed the final two innings to get the win in relief.
